Ooh almost a New Year!

Well day 1 on the new diet went really well.  I avoided all carbs and some of the Christmas bloat seems to have disappeared (i.e. I'm not feeling quite so stuffed today as I have over the last few days!).  This resulted in a 2lb loss overnight!  Now, I know most, if not all, of this is the Christmas/water retention so I'm not too excited but at least I'm heading in the right direction.

Sadly, whilst I've been steering away from the wheat, I've failed in avoiding the sweet stuff at a New Year's party this evening.  Quite a few chocolates have found their way on my plate which is a bit of a disappointment.  However I'm not going to beat myself up about it as I'm starting the real diet on Tuesday when I have my consultation with the Cambridge Diet consultant.  I can't wait to start the plan, particularly as it will mean that I'll be steered away from temptation in the form of food and will have all my meals planned and completely defined.

I have set up my obsessive excel sheet which contains all my data in terms of weight, target weight, dates and all with pretty colours and clever formulae which shows off how much weight I've lost.  I found the one I started last year too and I'm delighted that I actually weigh 7lbs less than I did at the same time last year.  So I may not be perfect but at least I'm smaller than I was 12 months ago.  On that note, here's hoping 2011 brings us all health, wealth and happiness and a smaller pair of knickers by the end of it!

Making a start

Well it's almost the New Year and, as usual, I'm chomping at the bit to make a start on my resolutions. Never one to wait for the prescribed time, I thought I'd make a start as soon as possible with the hope of seeing some results PDQ.

So here goes. The Smaller Pants Project is my new dieting regime which will help my knicker size decrease, (hopefully quite dramatically and quickly) and will then be forever maintained.  I intend to follow a rather drastic diet for some significant results.  In order to lose the weight relatively quickly, on the 4th of January I will start the Cambridge Weight Plan which, once at my goal weight, I intend to follow with a maintenance plan which roughly follows the Paleo lifestyle.

Why choose these plans?  I've been on one diet or another since I was about 11, generally following low fat diets which leave me starving and no better off in terms of the size of my posterior or my associated knickers.  I have PCOS and I've known for some time that a diet based on a low GI or low carb is better for me.  I won't go into the frustrations I have in terms of most diet products being low fat but in order to allow for any taste/bulk, they tend to be high sugar - I'm sure that my many years basically eating these foods have hindered rather than helped my weight loss.

So my plan is now to to follow the Cambridge Diet as this is a very low calorie diet which is also low carb and will allow me the time and space to reprogram my body i.e. not allow me to eat real foods which lead me to greater temptation.  I had hoped to follow Lighter Life however my closest consultant is over an hour and a half away and I know that I don't have the willpower (or can justify the fuel cost) to drive on a weekly basis for counselling and collection of food packs.  I need something that will be easy to follow and provide results.  So, as there's a Cambridge Diet Consultant within 10 minutes of me, Cambridge Diet it is.  Where CD falls down in comparison to Lighter Life is that it doesn't provide any counselling.  However, I'm fairly intelligent (or would like to think so anyway), and I've bought a book on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy with which I intend to get to the bottom (pardon the pun) of my overeating and consequently rather large behind.

At this point, I suppose it's best to declare what my ideal weight would be.  I intend to achieve my goal weight of 10 stone and then review what that feels like.  I can't remember a time when I've been 10 st hence my need to review it when I get there!  So, this means I have a rather significant 73 lbs to lose.  There's nothing quite like a challenge eh!

So why the delay in starting on CD?  Well the 4th of January is the soonest the consultant can see me.  Until then I intend to start following a low carb plan, drink plenty of water and shift a few pounds before meeting the woman who will help me on my journey to a much lighter, healthier and fitter 10st.

I was going to post some photos here, but it's before 9pm and I don't want to scare the children.  Maybe next time.
